Ryan Ortega has extensive experience in financial communications and investments, ranging from traditional assets, to venture capital, and alternatives.
Ryan began his career as an analyst at a small family office and later worked as a senior analyst for institutional investment firm Wilshire Associates. He then went on to consult for a variety of clients including hedge funds, RIAs, and startups in the FinTech space. Most recently he co-led digital marketing and communications for an ETF asset manager with over $1B in AUM, helping to create content for both retail and institutional distribution.
His expertise in financial markets, combined with his clear writing and communications skills, helps him deliver strong communications guidance to clients in the financial industry.
From 2019 to 2020, Ryan ran a popular macro-themed podcast, “The Jelly Donut Podcast,” with more than 40 episodes, featuring interviews with investment professionals from a variety of backgrounds.
Ryan is currently a scout at a FinTech-focused syndicate on AngelList. He graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.S. in Business Administration concentrating in Finance. He also earned the Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation from UCLA Extension and the Claritas Certificate given by the CFA Institute. He holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 65 license.
